<J. Edgar Hoover, FBI Director, ca. 1960>

Not the CIA. The CIA was watching the international situation. Hoover's FBI was watching the domestic situation. The JFK Assassination was a domestic crime.

Hoover's FBI had fat files on Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) and all his contacts, including many of those in New Orleans when LHO lived there in the summer of 1963, e.g., Guy Banister, David Ferrie, Gerry Patrick Hemming, and Loran Hall.

Hoover knew these were right-wing radicals and that their main goal was to kill Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro. He also saw how easily these fanatics could be turned to kill JFK.

Hoover also knew that Dallas FBI agent James Hosty was the main screw-up in the FBI who made the whole FBI and Secret Service plans of Washington DC come crashing to the ground. This is plain from Hoover's own WC testimony.

Dallas SS man, Forrest Sorrels was more to blame, as he was closer to the Washington DC Secret Service duty to ensure the safety of the President in any US city. But Hoover's embarrassment was his own man -- James Hosty.

We only need to review the Warren Commission volumes to see the truth of these claims.

For example, every witness that claimed LHO was on a bus or in a taxi gave testimony that falls apart on careful analysis. LHO was NEVER on a bus to his rooming house. Or to Mexico, for that matter. NEVER in a Dallas taxi.

Hoover knew all that -- but their "mistaken identity" drivers were included to that LHO was always ALONE in his crimes. The Warren Commission bogus witnesses of LHO at barber shops, target ranges, car dealerships -- are so many FBI efforts to paint the portrait of a Lone Nut. That was Hoover's strategy.

In sum, though I find Hoover INNOCENT of killing JFK, I find him GUILTY of creating the cover-up that has proved so successful for the past 60+ years.

The lucky thing for Hoover is how remarkably easy it was to blame LHO alone for this execution-style assassination.

Though LHO thought he was in a plot to kill Fidel Castro, and that his accomplices had no other goal -- and he was taken by surprise by the JFK Assassination, he realized too late that he had handed his accomplices his personal rifle that morning.

The previous summer, LHO had pretended to be an officer of Fidel Castro's FPCC in New Orleans -- in order to sneak into Havana via Mexico City. We know this because of the Red Resume that LHO took to Mexico City seeking a quick visa into Cuba.

(This scenario is confirmed by the novel by CIA chief David Atlee Phillips, THE AMLASH LEGACY, about a plot to kill Fidel Castro by using LHO in Mexico City.)

That Red Resume consisted of newspaper clippings regarding his alleged FPCC chapter in New Orleans, including radio and television images, police reports and FBI interviews.

With this background, LHO's rightist accomplices were able to manipulate LHO into the role of the Communist killer of JFK.

Although Hoover was not interested in any of this until after the JFK Assassination, he also had the fattest files on all the players, so that it was Hoover -- the FBI chief -- who figured out the truth of the JFK tragedy long before anybody else.

Hoover knew *instantly* that this was not a Russian plot. Nor a Cuba plot. Nor any foreign plot. That is why he could insist on this so many times in the WC volumes. Hoover knew who *didn't* do it, because he knew exactly who actually *did* it.

It was therefore Hoover's idea, before anybody else, that this Truth had to be hidden from the American people and the world as long as the Cold War with Communism continued to rage.

What is the status of the most recently released JFK records? I say that researchers will make most progress by finally ignoring CIA records and focusing 100% on FBI records, especially those about the Resigned General Edwin Walker.
